Wink 4 valve motor swap

Ok, so I own an '03 3.8L mustang. My plans over the new little while are to find a wrecked gt and strip it of rear end, brakes, shocks, sway bars, and coils. Now, I'm wanting to end up with a 5 or 6 speed tranny from a cobra and a 4 valve engine from a cobra. Doesn't matter if its supercharged or not as I think I'll be heading towards turbo charging it. So, while I'm getting my car ready for a transplant and am at a bone yard, what else do I need to pick up. I've heard that I will need to replace the steering column out as well. Is this true? I've already built a hot rod already and am wanting to start on another. I will be doing all the work at my house so no needed extra charges for a shop to do this. I know that it would have been easier to start with a gt but I want to do this with a 4 valve and make sure its done right

ehh probly not, you just need the engine and drive train.. think about your goals and how much your going be driving it and how, a 2v is not a bad thing - in many ways better, and easier, but for all out power 4v is the way to go

Your absolutly right. By no means is a 2v a bad engine. I'm wanting the forged internals that come with a 4v cobra motor is the main reasoning behind that choice. My main goal is to have around 450 horses by the end of this project but who knows what it could turn into later on. I love the idea of a twin screw but I'd rather not have it sucking down so much gas. With a turbo, I could be getting much better fuel mileage due to the turbo not being spooled up all the time. O and is you ehhh probably not telling me I won't have to get a new steering column?

yeah, but just some more pennies added to my sense, you dont put a turbo on a v-8 for gas mileage,... buy a 3-4k dollar honda for that as a daily driver - leave the mustang to going fast

Why not just Put twins on your 3.8? I've seen some pretty bad 3.8L Mustangs.

Turbo's on the 3.8L was my first idea. I'm not saying that my idea is set in stone yet. I also like the idea of a 4.6 3 valve in it. I figure though I'll start upgrades at suspension, rear end, and get a t45 or t56 ready to drop in and than come up with a plan on the motor. TT supras are pretty badass but I'm not sure if it's for me. I just love the raw power of the v8.

The only 4v motor that comes with forged internals are the 03-04 cobras. I've seen them go anywhere from 4k to 8k. All the little things to make it work would nickel and dime you to death. From money stand point I recommend TT a built v6 but if money isn't an option than go with the 4v.

Hmmm, I thought the new edge cobra have forged internals. I knew the termis did though. Well when you think about it a program and pulley change from what I've heard would put me pretty close to my goal than. Putting all the money into internals and turbos seems like it would cost alot more than buying a termi motor from a wrecked cobra.

you just answered your question... you can 8k on a TT v6 and potential for mid 11s or spend 8-10k on a v8 twin turbo and have potential to 8s and 9s\

of course there is more to it that just saying that, but they essentially cost the same and v8 will flat out dog the v-6
