Default 4 valve b-heads on a 96-98 2 valve.

I have heard that they are somehow easier to do with the 96-98 than the 99-04 mustangs. But I haven't been able to find much info on how to do it and what kind of parts I need.

I know this much, need the heads, cams, intake, but have no clue what else I would need. If anyone knows about this swap, what would be the estimated power gain and compression in comparison to the pi swap?

thanks

I'm not sure what else you would need but I know you're missing valve covers. As far as power gains, you will be running the same as a Cobra since that is the only difference between GT and Cobra engines as far as the actual engine goes. GT and Cobra's have the same bore, stroke, and pistons. You might need a fuel rail too, but not sure. Keep digging, I'm sure there is some more info out there. You will definitely see a significant power difference. I will also suggest to do a full rebuild with forged parts if you're going to do a head swap.

yall would need the timing cover, the timing chains, chain guides, chain tensioners, assembled heads, imrc delete kit, intake manifold, various gaskets, and the fuel system. i think thats about everything

its no easier to do, I would recommend doing the imrc delete, that will make your life alot easier, Im not sure but I think when you go from a npi to a 4v head your going to change your compression, someone more knowledgable will have to give you specs

Theyre both 9.5.1 CR's.

i think you mean throttle cable.
Unless your doing work yourself and can find the parts for cheap, it's almost more better to just get a 4v motor instead of swapping the upper part of the motor

Yes, but they achieve that 9.1 with different pistons. The 96-98 DOHC engines use a domed piston so if you put those heads on your block you will end up with a CR in the low 8.X range.

Yes throttle cables are hard to find, throttle bodies can be gotten off of Mark VIII cars. Which if you use the 97-98 Mark VIII 4V intake when you swap you can use the 99+ cobra cable which can still be ordered from ford last time I checked.
