when you get an intake what do you mean by tuning? and why do you need to tune it? and how do you tune it?

An intake might tend to lean out your A/F ratio, although I doubt that an intake alone without other mods would lean it out excessively. A tune would allow you to adjust the A/F ratio and other parameters for performance improvements. It is done by reflashing the ECU (computer) in the car with a handheld device or by installing a pre-programmed chip.

99+ (do not know about 98 or older) come from the factory, 1 full point rich.

It'll take full-bolt ons to lean out the air-fuel, and even then it won't be so lean it's catastrophic.

so if i get my LT headers and X pipe... will i be running lean since i have a new programmer in my car?
