Default new engine and transmission

is there a place that sells engines fully built to where i could just take out my old engine and replace it. no building or tuning or anything? i will be getting my moms 99 gt but it will have almost 185,000 miles by the time i get it. i wont replace it initially but i dont know how much longer it will last. just looking for a decent engine to replace the worn out one.

also, is it possible when i do the engine swap to replace the auto transmission my mom has with a 5 speed fairly simple? obviously i would have to add a clutch pedal inside the car, but other than that is it basically a simple swap?

How much are you wanting to swap? You can buy a long block and smap your old stuff to the new long block. MMR sells long blocks along with many other companies. As far as your tranny goes, stay auto or sell the car and buy a standard.

i want to basically swap everything that the mileage will have effected, obivously the wiring wont need to be changed or anything. what about just getting a new 4.6l gt engine? or maybe a cobra engine? those are direct swap correct? how much are they? basically i want the best bang for buck and i dont want to take it to a shop.

have you done a compression test on it to see if it really is on the last leg???? or are you just assumming that the high milage has killed it???? is it smoking or leaking???? is it sluggish??? alot of 4.6's last well into the 250,000 to 300,000 mileage mark if they have been properly maintained. just something to think about before you drop alot of cash into a new engine.

yeah like i said before, im not going to get a new engine until i have to, but just wanted to explore my options so i can get on it quick when i need to. my mom is the only owner and has taken care of it, no racing or hard pulls or anything really. every time somethin came up she got it fixed. i didnt realize they would last that long...
