Default heater core leaking

I have a 1996 GT vert That I've just installed a 2004 4.6 engine. While running in the enging I started to get antifreeze running out of a/c drain onto the exhaust pipe. After pulling the A/C and heater I found that the heater core had ruptured one of the tubes. When I changed the heater hoses I found a plug with about 3/8 hole in the hose from the intake to the heater and put it in the new hose. Ford dealer told me that this plug was to stop the noise in the heater. I've been trying to find a flow chart for the cooling system to find out if the hose from the water pump under the intake going to the heater is pressure or suction. Or is a leaking heater a common thing wirh mustang. Also is there someone out there who sells a heavy duty heater core. I don't care to have to pull this heater again. Thank you for you time
