Fact: you can switch back and forth between dino and synthetic but why would you?

Because of money possibly.

i think that syn. is the way to go I use mobil 1, and change it about every 3-4k but thats not a problem since it takes longer for synthetic break down.
to the OP, 87 octane def. unless you have tune otherwise its just a waste of money

A regular dino oil can last well beyond 3000 miles, and there have been a lot of studies regarding it.. The biggest problem with not doing a regular oil change, is the filter.. Realistically, you can stretch regular oil to 5000 with no ill affects, if you swap out the filter around 3000 miles, ESPECIALLY if you 87, are in a dirty/humid environment, or do a lot of stop-and-go driving..

Switch for synthetic!!! YOu would not regret it. I had use castrol in other cars before and it was pretty good, but since I got my sn95 I have used royal purple. This last oil change I put mobil 1 extended performance with a mobil 1 filter, but i think my car feels better on royal purple and a K&n filter. I have heard a lot of good things about Amsoil but its really expensive, and I dont think its available at retail stores. My advice would be to change to synthetic, whatever the brand it is. YOu would have to try them out to see which one you like the best!

If you are using synthetic or a synthetic blend and changing your oil at 3k then you might as well pour your money down the drain. I have my oil tested by Blackstone lab with great test results

Yeah one of the advantages of Syn. is that you can go longer between oil change intervals. I use Amsoil with Amsoil filter. When I switched to it, things just started running more smoothly and quieter. I think it's great. If you go to Syn, don't even THINK about changing it for at least 5K miles. Actually my wife has a newer Honda with an oil life sensor on it and that thing will usually indicate to change the oil about every 7500 miles. However I drive 2500 miles a year on the Mustang, so I'm kind of going back on my word here, but I can't let oil sit in my car more than a year, even though it only has 2500 miles on it.

an engine flush is something you buy a quart of at a parts store... put it in... let it run in your engine for about 15 minute and when you drain it, you will see all the sludge it takes with it... dont do it if you have a supercharger....
