Intake troubles
It appears that I may have a small crack by my thermostat housing. How much trouble will it be to replace if it is cracked? If it is cracked will I benefit from going after-market intake or should I just stay stock? I found a new intake with the alunanum thermostat housing, what shold I do if I have to do anything? I'm hoping I don't have to do anything of course.

RE: Intake troubles
You can replace it with stock.... but the problem is air flow. The non-pi intake which is what you have im guessing looking at the 97 in youre screen name. I would recommend going PI swap if you have money. If not then just do the pi intake swap... still pricey if you want everything exactly correct. There are ways around it.. but i wont even get into detail unless you are technically inclined. But yeah you have a couple options.

RE: Intake troubles
I have a 98 and have the same problem so i just spent 1400 and am doing the PI swap. Thats everything you need and it will definently give you some horsepower so i would totally recommend that. Our intakes suck. So do the heads. So just save some money and do the PI swap.

RE: Intake troubles
first off you can get a PI intake manifold on ebay for $175 bucks id start with that. other wise call your local salvage yards or call an insurance company and ask where they send theyre totaled cars. call up these yards and ask them if they have a set of heads and cams off of a '99-'04 GT. If you get lucky get a set of Bullitt heads. read somewhere that they are lighter plus you can say "I have Bullitt heads"

RE: Intake troubles
bullitt intake is a good find in a junk yard.
Casper, I'll be doing the PI manifold swap w/ no plates very soon (already ordered it)...any tips? |
RE: Intake troubles
If I do the PI swap how much horsepower will I gain and will my fuel mileage remain the same , better or worst? Also are there any draw backs to doing the PI swap besides the cost?
