Default track time question

i went to the race track last night and put in one run...this was my first time racing at the dragstrip ever...now i would like to know if the time i made is right for the mods i have, or do i have some practice to do here is the breakdown

2001 Mustang GT 5spd

BBK CAI
3.73 gears
Steeda tri axe short throw shifter
Street tires 245/40/17
Diablo canned 93 tune
Stock manifolds
Mac O/R prochamber
Flowmaster 40 series
Eibach Prokit
Tokico blues shocks and struts

on the dyno this car 239hp with 279lb tq

TRACK INFO

60ft....2.1
1/4mile.....14.1
1/4 MPH....99.21

I dont know the track temp but im guessing around 88 degrees with some humidity

so is the about right for the mods i have or is the car capable of more with some practice..keep in mind the 3.73 gears

What was your MPH? Thats a big factor..

A geared 4.6 should be a 13 second car....no doubt about it... So practice those launches and dont be afraid to shift that thing

Did you hold 3rd gear, or shift 4th?

4.6s are touchy cars when it comes to track times. Theres a local kid around my way with intake/tb/plenum, x-pipe, LM IIs, SCT custom tune, and the best I've seen it run is 13.9@100. My buddy Dimebag's car was BOX stock down to the paper filter and it was running 13.7@102 on the same dragstrip... So these cars have the potential, and the driver mod is the most important factor.

Next time your out, try short shifting to 4th at about 5200rpms...You might pick up a mph and a tenth....

I used to have a 98 BMW 328is which ran pretty good. I took it to the track and the first time I ran a 15.6 @ 89mph (bad start) The second time I ran a 15.3 at 89 mph. and that was just two runs. So practice makes a lot of difference. I have yet to run my 02 GT yet but hope to soon.
