Changing ALL the fluids is the first thing I do to a used car, even if the seller swears they just did it.

No I am saying that synthetic fluid is OK, the RP Synchromax is a synthetic manual tranny fluid, as is GM's Synchromesh fluid used in the Tremec T-56 in the 'vette.

My greatest confusion is that you took a used car to the track, where by defintion the activity consists largely of beating the crap out of it (unless you didn't try to go as fast as you could), without first changing the tranny fluid?

Yeah I didn't. I changed the engine oil soon after I bought the car. It's my first car. It had 26,800 miles on it. Right now it's got a 1000 more.

So I guess since I can't find any RP retailers around here then I'll order it from americanmuscle.com

It's this one right? So i'll just buy 4 quarts and ask the guy to put in 3.2 after he drains my old fluids out. Is that right?

Like I said it's my first car and i'm learning. I only took it to the track once. I try to baby my car as much as I can on the streets and all.

I heard it was once every 30,000 or 50,000 miles, but thats for a stick, not sure if an auto is the same

The '03 factory shop manual maintenance schedule says simply "Change manual transmission fluid as required." I could not find any reference to any specific definition of "as required".

I change mine about 40k miles ago and plan on doing it again shortly...
