Ok well today i took the stang to a car show and had no problems with reverse at all. Well after words i went to a buddies house and while i was parked on a hill i put it in reverse it popped well i never really thought anything of it. Now it pops any time i start to go backwords in reverse.....any ideas? and it drives perfect in drive so i have no idea whats wrong maybe i broke a tooth off a gear??

auto or manuel? i assume manuel cuz u said gear???

does it pop outta gear or make a pop sound? if it pops outta gear, it could be a couple things. could be suspension, messed up idler or broken reverse gear. u woulda had to have broken a couple teeth off the gear for it to be popping out. now, if it's just making a popping sound, that's a completely different matter.

nope its auto...but it just pops once then it doesnt pop again

could be something binding. check the bushings on ur rear end.

i just put new gears in would that have something to do with it..the person that put them in said that he didnt think that i needed new bearing but i bought them anyways could that be something to do with it

if it didn't do it b4 that, it's prob a bad gear install. it could be binding inside. take it back and have them recheck it.

do you think it would be bad if i drove it..l mean it doesnt pop when im in drive only in reverse and i does it once then its done...this is my DD and i need it haha

u can drive it, there shouldn't be any problem with that, but get it checked soon.

When u say pop, u mean like a metallic sounding pop/thunk? Might be a U-joint.

where is the pop coming from? the shifter itself, linkage, tranny, rearend? Eliminating a couple of those will help you figure it out a lot faster.
