The Continental is a FWD car and the Bellhousing bolt pattern is different than a RWD car. So it will not work in a Mustang .
I guess it depends on the year. I believe most later models were DOHC, about the same hp as a 99-04 GT, a little less torque. I may be wrong, but I think it would be a de-tuned version of the mark viii engine.

Pretty close...depending on the year it is a DOHC (4v) 4.6L V8 260-275 hp (depending on year) 265-275 torque (depending on the year) I think 99 or 2000 they bumped it 15 horsepower from 260hp
