Default fith gear backlash

Only in fith gear when I let off the gas and get back on it right away do I have a great deal of this. Is this normal for an 01 with T-45

What do you mean backlash? you mean like in first gear when you punch it and then suddenly let go you feel like your head is about to go through the windshield kinda feeling?

At what speed/RPM's is it occuring at?

I think my car does the same thing. It sounds like I have a bad u-joint. Like cruising in 5th and you let off the gas and then get back in it I hear a clunk sound.

The Drivetrain Clunk happens to me a lot, I think ford had a TSB about it.

Well I have checked the drive line and u-joints and they are fine. It's definitely a drive train issue. I was driving to work last night an was excelerating in fifth and backed off the gas and got right back on it and it just feels like something loose in the drive train.

17510 1999-2004 MUSTANG 4.6L - DRIVELINE CLUNK DURING GEAR CHANGES AND/OR QUICK ACCELERATION AFTER COAST (TIP-IN CLUNK)
SOME 1999-2004 MUSTANGS EQUIPPED WITH A 4.6L ENGINE MAY EXHIBIT A 'CLUNK' NOISE FROM THE DRIVELINE DURING GEAR CHANGES AND/OR A QUICK ACCELERATION JUST AFTER A COAST (TIP-IN CLUNK). THE CLUNK MAY BE PRESENT IN MULTIPLE GEARS AND IS CONSIDERED NORMAL. THIS IS CAUSED BY DRIVELINE LASH REACTING TO THE RAPID RESPONSE OF THE ENGINE WHEN THE THROTTLE IS SUDDENLY OPENED. THE CLUNK NOISE HAS NO EFFECT ON THE PERFORMANCE OR DURABILITY OF THE VEHICLE. INSPECT AND CHECK THE DRIVESHAFT ATTACHING BOLTS, AXLE MOUNTS, TRANSMISSION MOUNTS AND SUB-FRAME MOUNTING BOLTS FOR PROPER TORQUE. NO OTHER SERVICE SHOULD BE PERFORMED.

Our cars are RWD and have a faily robust driveline, as others and Ford have said it is quite normal...

Basically it's a 3/4 ton pickup with a flashy body...

LOL, The v6's are made from used ranger parts, I guess we got the f150 drivetrain.
