sounds like you have the wrong one, but if your car is a 01-up the 3650 wont fit the t5 the ball shaft is to long. but if you have the older years, then i would say you have the wrong one. They changed trans halfway through 01.

i would think you have the wrong one. I sent mine back, and got the right one. if you grab 2 or 3 to hard it will pop right out of the socket and it feels like your in neutral. the right shifter makes a awesome upgrade over the stock one. compare it to your factory shifter to make sure. from the plate to the ball on the end of the shaft should be the same lenght. look close it aint but abouot 3/8 inch diff.

did you put the shift carriage ball on the new shifter? You need to remove the shifter cage ball off the stock shifter and install it on the new shifter.

i just took this thing out of my car before i throw it in the trash im looking for more advice. the model number on the bottom of the shifter is 997-0158 does anyone know what this model number is suppose to fit because i just measured the shaft and ball on this one and my stock one and the steeda is shorter by at least a 1/16 maybe a little more. i have a 99 GT i think i have the wrong one anyone know. also the plastic peice that the ball rides in is all screwed up now like the ball was not in all the way

well finally figured out the problem. i called steeda today and gave them the numbers of the shifter even though i could not match them to any online they said it was for a 99 GT. well i went to ford and bought a new bushing and that was the problem the one that was in there was wore out put in the new one and put the shifter back in and seems to work fine. all that for a $6.00 part unreal oh well live and learn thanks for all the help...larlar
