Default new mech. fuel pressure gauge flickers so fast i cant read

i just installed a new nitrous express fuel pressure gauge on my 01 and the needle is moving between 20 and 30 so fast that i cant harley see what it is reading and i have no idea what the true reading is, i just changed fuel filter and put in a svt fuel pump and it did this with the old filter and pump. any ideas? the gauge is located right off the schrader valve spot between that and the fuel solnoid

Did you pull the pin out of the shrader valve?

Is it a fluid filled gauge?

I just looked it up, it does not appear to be fluid filled.

'Twas me I'd remove it, as the rapid fluctuations can rip the Bourdon tube (a typical round gauge mechanism) apart, which would make raw gas spray out of the gauge housing.

Jeg's has a nice line of fluid filled f/p gauges, I had one permanently mounted on my supercharged '92 Miata for over 135k miles with no problems. Very reasonable at $18 each.

yes i took the schrader valve out and i am glad to see those liquid filled gauges for a 1/3 of the price that i paid for the one that i have. not sure what good a gauge is if i cant read it. I had one on my dodge it was an autometer non liquid filled and it always read true with no bouncing

Even a small amount of air in the line just before the gauge can behave as a dampener, however once that get's worked out of the system it's dampening effect is also gone.

guess that i will plug the port off and order a new one. well atleast i got the low fuel pressure swith put in that seams to work and that was the main reason that i got the gauge so that i could set it at 28psi and it seams to work fine. with 30 psi of air through the gauge it was fine.
