98 GT Alternator problems
Ok i have a 98 mustang GT, the alternator is not charging the battery but car will still run when jumped so the alternator must still be working but not charging the battery...Im thinking voltage regulator? Im not good with electronic stuff so any feed back would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

RE: 98 GT Alternator problems
Sounds like either a voltage regulator or the alternator. Voltage regulators are usually cheap on Fords and a quick fix. Can't hurt to replace yours and see what happens. If you charging gauge on your dash is constantly pegged to the right trying to recharge the battery even after a high speed small trip down the highway, I suspect your alternator is toast. There are a few other electrical items such as shorts, bad wires or cables, etc. that can also cause problems. I suggest you go to one of your favorite service centers and request a "charging system check". Otherwise you may find yourself wasting a whole lot of money without really finding the root of the problem. For that matter, you could even have developed one or more dead cells in your battery that no longer will hold a charge. A charging system check will be able to isolate your problem.

i dont car what that guy says, dont disconnect you battery to test if your cars alternator is bad cause you can fry the diodes in you computer. you used to be able to do that on older cars but not on newer ones.
