They may be stock equivalent but the brand matters. Bosch, NGK, Autolite, Champion all make plugs that are direct stock replacements for the Motorcrafts. FWIW Bosch plugs are garbage, I had a set foul after 1500 miles which caused hesitation and backfiring like you are describing.

Data logging is where you hook a tuner (Xcal, Sniper, Predator) and a laptop or a laptop directly into the car's computer and it records sensor and engine parameters like spark, MAF counts, fuel rail pressure, load, RPM and then graphs them out so you can look at it as a tuning/troubleshooting aid.

99% sure they were AutoLites, but may have been Champions trying to picture in my head, but was earlier this summer. Yes he did data log when he ran on the dyno and it was choppy all the way through the rpm range. Weird thing was everything else check out fine. Wasn't lean or rich and the exhaust (not sure what it was testing) was normal. MAF was fine... craziest thing. It sounds like coil on plugs is the way to go, I just wish my computer would throw a code to tell me which ones, like you said they're expensive if you try to pick up a whole set.

Yeah it's fine at idle, but you can feel the occasional shake in your seat at idle, but no change in RPM. Pretty steady around 7-8 hundred I'd say.
