Default Is it normal for 3.73's to whine?

Just as the title says...

I am planning on ordering some FRPP 3.73's soon and I found a guy here who I got refered to from the LA captain of stangpede and he can install them for me. He told me that it is normal for a bit of whine since the pinion gear is so small.

I was wondering if you guys know whether or not this is true? Because I know another guy who is very heavily recommended and he charges the cheapest and he is also a ford mechanic. The only problem is he is quite car away and it would be a little road trip. So i'm trying to avoid that if I can.

Thanks,
Brandon

Don't go to that guy. Properly set up gears do not whine.
And his excuse for why it will whine is one of the dumbest I've ever heard. Remember if you go cheap you could end up paying more to fix it.

Oh All right. Well this guy charges $225. The other guy who is heavily recommended charges $150 and everyone says their cars do not whine from him. But like I said hes quite far away so I'm kinda discouraged. Well I guess it's not THAT far, but 75 miles away.

The first guy who said that they should whine because of the pinion gears size should be taken out back and beaten.

I had johnny lightning performance in pa put my gears in for me about a month ago. on my way home i noticed a whine on the decel side, when the engine was under load. so i had to drive an hour back up there to get it fixed, he told me that it was because they didnt put lock tite on the pinion nutt and it backed off, the pinion nutt is a locking nutt any way so wtf. I think it was a back lash issue and the guy didnt wanna tell me he f'ed up. moral is be wise on selection here
