Default '03 GT Rear End Gears?

What are the best gears to put in my 8.8 rear end to launch harder at stoplights?
I have heard 3.73's. Any insight to this. Also I was wanting to put some underdrive
pullys on and was wondering if BBK p/n#1559 was a good brand. Thanks!!!

I got FRPP 4.10's and Steeda NON-PIGGYBACK UD Pulley's from MustangTuning. That would be my 'official' recomendation, although might cost a tad bit more....

In the past week I have installed the following on my 2000 GT convert.

Magnaflow tru-x pipe
Magnaflow magnapack catback
Accufab 70mm TB and plenum
Motive 3.90 gears
Steeda Tri-ax shifter
Steeda underdrive pulleys

I am waiting for the MAC CAI and the Predatir tuner to arrive via UPS - hopefully tomorrow. I love the 3.90's. I drive 120 highway miles a day (durring the summer) so I went with the 3.90's over the 4.10's. If I didn't drive so much on the highway, I'd have gone with the 4.10's. I just installed the shifter and the pulleys today. I took it for a quick test drive and I have to say that I can feel the differnece with the pulleys. Maybe it's my imagination, but I swear the car pulls even harder now.

In any event, gears and pulleys are a good start. You will definitely feel the difference when you change out the gears. Good luck.

hohnestly do you think you'll save that much more gas with the 3.90's over the 4.10's? i mean you can
t even notice a difference between the stock 3.27's compared to the 4.10's. i'd get 4.10's or 4.30's for a bad *** launching Stang. Add some DR's and your gonna be having some good acceleration from the pony

I couldn't care less about the gas. Hell, I don't even pay for it, my company does. I was worried that 4.10's would have my engine (which has 133k on it) winding too high on the highway. And honestly, how much of a difference in the launch is there going to be between 3.90's and 4.10's? Whatever it is I can make up with my mad skillz.

there will be more of a difference in launching with the 4.10s over the 3.90s than there will be the gas mileage difference

and it shouldn't affect the engine even though the RPMs will be higher. how you beat on her will depend that but i could be wrong[:-]

I dont know if someone already said this but if you plan on supercharging your car i wouldnt recommend going over 3.90's
