I have a 98 GT, and I was wondering how often auto tranny fluid and spark plugs should be replaced. I was thinking about just having the plugs replaced because the engine doesnt run as smooth as it used to, plus my tranny is shifting wierd and hesitates when I pull off, and sometimes jerks when I let off the accelerator. How can I fix this ?

I thought u replaced the plugs and wires every year, but a mechanic told me different...thats why I needed a second opnion

when i bought my rolling money pit, the dealer said (and my user manual) the plugs were good fo 100k miles. that's cool, however there is no way i'm waiting that long becuase the dealer, and ford, are in the business of selling cars. 50k for plugs seems reasonable. for tranny fluid, if you hammer it alot or do a lot of idleing, every couple of years (or 24k miles) would be a good bet.

yeah, I've been doggin my tranny so I'm sure if they drained the fluid, they'd tiny pieces of metal in it......maybe I should have it changed, it might help stop that hesitation and jerky shifting.

You should change your trans fluid every 25k-30k and I change my plugs about then too.
