Help! Problems all at once!

I have a 96 GT with 107 miles. Not sure what's up but all at the same time several problems emerged; the clock is very dim, radio does not work, headlights don't work, and unlock switch does not work. On top of that the speedometer is not working. The electrical problems would appear different from the speedometer. Any suggestions on where to start?

Thanks,
Stuart

I'm not sure if there is any fuse that shares all of these, but it would be a good place to start. If all fuses are good then start checking body grounds. If everything happened at once I'm sure that the problem is electrical.

Sound like a spaghetti mess to me.Good luck on that.

Sounds like your altenator is taking a crap. Take it off and bring it up to auto zone to get tested.

It does sound like an alternator problem.. A good way to check, is to measure voltage coming from the alternator, to see if it's even remotely close to 12v reference... I doubt it is... If it is though, then I'd move onto the fuses, to see if you can see any discoloration..

It's also possible something has melted, so I'd say start out easy with the alternator, and then go from there..

Good advice from these guys sounds like the alternator, be sure to check the battery too.

SilvrStang 09-24-2008 05:04 PM

Yeah take it do auto zone and let them test the alternator and the battery as well.

I know everyone is saying alternator, but when I had some alt. fail out on me, things like the lights still worked and radio. its just they got more dim then the engine failed cause the battery didn't have enough power to power the spark on the motor. but its free to check so go ahead
