undrive pulleys

Default undrive pulleys

so im lookin to buy some underdrive pulleys , and it says they add 10 HP but everyone i have talked to said that they wont even add that ...so my question is what effects will they make power and tourqe wise ...thanks

Take every claim made by aftermarket suppliers and divide it by at least 2, if it sounds really outrageous divide it by 5.

Also, claiming that UDPs "add 10 HP" is complete BS. They do not ADD any horsepower, anymore than does a light flywheel or aluminum driveshaft, what they do is free up power that would otherwise be being consumed by your water pump, generator, power steering pump, and AC compressor.

UDPs will make the engine more "lively", and as long as all your driving is not short trips in stop and go traffic they will not cause any problems.

cliff is absolutely right...like usual . i would say they are probably worth it though...if you like simple bolt-ons

Here is a link to a review on some basic bolt-ons. In this test they picked up just under 6 hp with the pulleys.

if you plan on supercharging it anytime soon dont bother because you'll have to take them off

I wouldnt recommend UDPs. If you're runing a stock alternator its a gamble because my crappd out on me pretty bad.

Although the UDPs smooth out the acceleration and the engine runs smoother with less stress.
