A custom tune is needed for long term longevity of your transmission?

Part/Full throttle shift points >>>upshifts and downshifts
Just to name a few?

Once you have the tuner set to the the proper ratio, that is only half the story. A custom tune is needed to bring all the shifts back to where they were previously, or they can be set to where you would like them.

*edit...a good tuner will know what tune to create depending on gear ratio, mods, and user likability? I have a 3700 stall going in with my 4.30 gears. I also requested specific shift points...part throttle thru full throttle, so all that was taking into account when programming my tune to work the best for my set-up. Hence custom tune!!!!

ok waht tuner do you recommend? are you getting yours dyno tuned or from a website? i could get it dyno tuned but its 400 on top of the 400 tuner!! whats a good website where i could order a custom tuner with the custom tune that when i plug it in will fix all my problems!!! telling places online i have 4.10s will let them know to fix all the stuff your talking about right? i feel like ordering online they might miss some of the things your telling me about!

thanks!

Well I have a Predator now...but I will be switching to SCT...the tuner that my transmission guy uses. There are some other ones out there, like Sniper I think but I'm going with what my tuner uses. He will only program for the SCT...so I have no choice...he knows a lot about the 4r70w...Darrin from BC Automotive.

For the tranmission getting it live tuned is the best...but canned tunes will work...but may not be 100%. Since I am going with a 3700 stall it might have to be live tuned at his shop. I won't know that yet till I get my canned tune in to see how close it is to what I am going to like, and that will be sometime next year.

*edit some things that are best left for live tuning are the lockup speeds of the converter...getting this nailed down will result in some nice reduction of et's on the track...but also requires some experienced tuning. Running full lock up in some gear's can break converters depending on how much RWHP? So usually most converters are set to lock at a certain percentage for reliabilty.
