Default HELP!!

Please pardon the redundancy of this question, but I need some serious help!! I have a 02 GT 5spd, with a cat-back exhaust, off road x pipe, under drive pulleys, cold air intake, throttle body & plenum and an aluminum drive shaft. My question is regarding an aftermarket tune; I’ve heard from various different sources that I will see gains as little as 2-3 HP, and as much as 20 HP!! Which is it? And is it worth spending nearly $400.00 on?

do rear end gears first, then if thats as far as you're going with the car performancewise for a while, get a tune.

And you gave it a whole 4 hours--this sort of snotty quip will alienate a lot of the forum members, many of whom have actual lives and jobs and stuff that have to get done during the day...

In any event, with your mods a good premium fuel (93 if you can get it) tune will get you 15 to 20 HP peak, but more importantly it can add the same or more across the mid-range.

I have basically the same bolt-ons as you, and with a well-tweaked Sniper Commando 93 octane tune I just last week dyno'd at 262 rwHP/305 ftlbs; with a very robust increase in the mid-range as well.

If you are for some reason married to regular fuel the results will not be as significant.

Alright, alright, so I'm at the computer a little too much; sorry.

Thanks for the input, 15-20 hp? Is that total with all of the mod's, or just the tune?; and I'm not married to regular fuel, I prefer premium.

Right now, with the OEM tunes and your mods you would probably dyno at 235 to 240 rwHP and maybe 275 ft/lbs maximum torque. But the big deal is that at from 3500 to 4500 rpm you are probably only putting down 190 to 230 HP.

A good 93 octane tune will add at least 10 to 15 peak rwHP, maybe 20; however it will also add 10 to 20 HP (and 15 to 25 ft/lbs of torque) between 3500 and 4500 rpm, which happens to be in a place that you can actually use it.

If you want to learn to tune yourself I strongly recommend the Sniper Commando system ($650). It's more expensive than most handhelds, however it also comes with the Special Forces system (around $380 by itself) which is easy to use and a good place to start.

Commando let's you change anything, including configuring a 2-step rev-limiter, and fine tuning spark and fueling in every conceivable manner.

Canned tunes from the other hand-helds Will not get you the same gains, however I have heard consistently good things about the tunes Brenspeed provides for the SCT units--which are technically not the same as the typical handheld "canned" tune.

You can always do a 4v head swap. With the number of wrecked cobras around, it makes it a very affordable 70 hp.

230-240 horse power, damn I was making that (237.2hp) with just Borla cat-back and the K&N cai. No really I had it dyno'd before the other mods in the list, after the x-pipe, plenum & tb, UDP's and the drive shaft I was hoping for about 260+; I mean it FEALS a lot better, but you're right, there are areas in the rpm's where I could use more..........shall we say.............umphhhhhhhh!! lol
