Default Polished Throttle Bodie

How much hp would a stock polished throttle bodie gain? I have someone who could polish it for free so I am going to take advantage of it

0 - 1hp????

A polish only is a waste of time. If you have it ported, ie: trim the shaft, etc. Thats where you will see a real hp or two. [&:]

you can do it it wont hurt your engine. Just make dure you disconect you battery and leave it disconected for 15-20 mins before you put the TB back in.

buy a new PLenum and throttle body. why put a ported TB on a stock restrictive plenum = useless and wasted effort.

I agree with Emann0007, don't waste your time on something that will net you 1/2HP gain at best. Get a new throttle body and plenum. Check out this site for some good info on the subject:

http://www.accufabracing.com/technical_faq.htm

If I am not mistaken, the Accufab products are basically polished anyway. Good quality product. Looks great too with it chromed effect finish. Also, at the same time, if you want a cheap CAI, just add a K&N filter and remove your air silencer. Basically the same exact thing. I did it to mine and don't hear any of the whine that so many people talk about. No sound at all. Then again I am running Magnaflow's in a convertible so perhaps I just can't hear it.....what.....what.....speak up!

Well if you have your heart set on NOT buying a plenum and TB new then you could try and find one used. The $4xx Accufab TB/Plenum will get you like 7HP. Others will get you a tiny bit less. If you are trying to be cheap like me then you can buy an OEM TB/Plenum used from E-bay like I did maybe $30. I am porting and polishing the !@#$ out of it. Half-shaft the butterfly shaft, bevel, port, polish, de-hump, de-burr. It's a probject and I know it won't get me much HP. I'd be very lucky to get 5HP. It's just a cheap project assuming that you already have a nice hi-speed dremmel etc. Sounds like you have the laborer lined out. To answer your question, I agree that you'd be lucky to get 2HP from a fully worked OEM TB only.

Well, crud! I have a stock TB coming as well, I was planning on porting/polishing. Might not be worth the effort now that I know this..

You could consider buying an OEM plenum and working it over too. Then'd you'd see some gains.

Anybody know what is the reuseability of the gaskets on the plenum, TB and EGR with only 20,000 miles on it? I just did a P&P and want to get that baby on soon!
