Default Braking Problem

When I am driving through the neighborhood and some bozo in front of me slams on his brakes because he forgot where he was supposed to turn I find myself skidding sometimes.. I dont even have to slam the brakes, it does this under hard braking. I was wondereing what could be wrong with my car.. no cel or anything. Could it be my tires?

What type of tires are you running? Do you have ABS?

With no ABS and stock tires its pretty easy to lock up the wheels
