Default Is this a fair price???

So as stated in an earlier post I bent my axle. Today I went on over to
Stang Hi, the local mustang speed shop. Anyhoo I asked them for a quote on the parts and labor for the new axles (gonna stick with 28 spline) and also for a gear swap while I'm at it. They also recommended I have the diff rebuilt at the same time since my car has close to 90,000 miles on it. The final price of all the above mentioned came out to $1,500 for everything...So is this a fair price?? seems high but I really have no idea.

no are friend just tossed his and he is going with a 31 spine set up and it 900 in parts and 200 for install so 1500 for a stock set up is a little steep

That price is ridiculous my friend! http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS
and i'm sure you can find someone who won't try to screw you when it comes to install.

We'll they just bent you over didn't they lol just joking. For that price you could buy 31 spline axles , with a ford racing 31 spline lsd diff and gears for $705 bucks with are discount through American Muscle. And i can't see any good shop charging more then 250-300 to install them. since you have to take all those parts out anyway to a gear swap. Shop around I sure you can find a better price. There just trying to get you becuase they know you need your car fixed.

that price seems not rediculously high considering the labor they will probably have to do to rebuild the differential etc, requires quite a bit of work but im not positive..

id suggest u get this rebuild kit , but only if your differential is actually messed up,

http://www.jegs.com/i/Ford+Racing/397/M-4700-C/10002/-1

My differential is messed up in my 03 gt. when i burnout only 1 wheel spins

I want to get that kit and dont really know what to reasonably expect for labor costs.. mabe 200-300$? anyone know ?

It honestly takes only about 10-15 minutes to intall new clutches in the diff. Once it has been removed. there trying to rob him!!!!!!

I think i may take blackstallion's recommendation and go with 31 spline with the LSD... I'm going to try another shop and see how much they would charge for labor if I provided the parts
