Default Am I on the right track?

Hey guys, mods are in the sig. With that being said I am looking to make a fast street car that I can run at the track now and again.

I am looking to stay N/A including no Nitrous.
I have drag radials and do not plan to run slicks.
Budget is about $2k w/ some planned to go toward exterior.

I was thinking about Cams, Control Arms, maybe port and polish current heads, and Long tubes.

sounds like your on the right path. But i would throw in some headers in that combo to get the full potential out of it.

I think he does have headers in the list.
Really with those mods you already have a fast street car.

haha yeah, well thanks I was hoping I wasn't overlooking anything major.

Something that crossed my mind was fuel injectors? Am I good even if I go with a stage 2 cam set-up with all the other stuff?

Do not touch the fuel injectors. Long Tubes should be the first thing on your list. Then start saving again and if you're serious, look into some heads. Stage II's from foxlake or even some Patriot Heads will pep your ride up.

How about some under drive pulleys and some subframe connectors. Also k-member and aluminum driveshaft.

Drop a 4 valve 5.4L in place of that 4.6! If I had 2K I'd try to find a good deal on a complete engine like that from a Navigator, and drop that sucker in! I like 4.6's, but I'm just telling you what I would do with that kind of budget. Then again, it might take a little more than that, but I can't say for sure. I'd guess you can probably find a decent used 5.4 out of a wrecked Navigator for $1,200-1,500 if I had to take a stab at it.
