gear whine again!!! please help!!

Thanks for all the help cliffyk!
So I am still wondering if I should worry about this whine that occurs only under de-acceleration around 30 and 60 mph?
Is this something i should be worrying about?
Should I pull the driveshaft and check the pinion bearing preload again?
What would cause a whine while coasting but not under acceleration?
I would really like to fix this or have a reason to not complain about it anymore
I also have to buy a new pinion companion flange seal because the one I got from NAPA is leaking unfortunately.
Thanks again everyone

60 to 30 in what gers? All or just the lower (3rd and 4th) gears?
If it is under fairly hard deceleration, and it's not REAL loud, and backlash and wear pattern ore OK, then I would consider it normal for that gearset. Lower ratio (higher numerically) gears can be noisier than higher ratio sets.
Ever hear a 10-wheeler with a 3-speed rear-end decelerating in one of the lower rear-end ratios?

They whine around 30mph in third and fourth gear and also whine around 60mph in fifth gear. 1st and 2nd up to 30 mph or so has no whine. I'm starting to think I just have noisy gears and have to deal with it........
Is anything going to break if I still drive it? That's really the only thing I am concerned about.

You won't break anything, so don't worry about that--in fact the may quiet down in time (part of which is you getting used to it).
What I would do, since I am **** about things like that, would be to open uip the gearcase in 1200-1500 miles and see what things look like, replace to oil and button it up.
From what you have said so far it sounds as though you have exercised all due diligence and my bet is you have a slightly noisy gearset, that may or may not quiet down once it's run in a bit, and will last for as long as any gearset can be expected to last...
