Try this, get a long screwdriver and put it up to the fuel injector that's nearest to the ticking. Put the other end up to your ear. See if you hear the fuel injectors ticking. That could be your problem. I'm about 99% sure that is what my noise is from. Keep the screwdriver up to the injector and take your ear on and off of the other end. That way you can tell if the noise your hearing is the same noise as the injectors.

Seems as if we all have some sort of ticking.

3.8s and 4.6s have the same fuel injectors. (the 3.8s actually have a slightly BIGGER fuel demand)

1-2-D does nothing other then manually shift the car, if you go D-2-D it will firm up the 1-2 shift and make it quicker.
