Default Spring Isolators, Which ones can I leave out?

I'm doing the fox body springs lowering job similar to MD's and I was thinking about leaving the isolators out just to get the lowest drop possible. When i started reading around about ppl leaving them out i couldn't figure out if they were talking about the pieces that go on the top of the coil or the ones that actually wrap aroung the coil at the bottom... which ones can i leave out and which are required?

Umm...the tops.

Not the ones that wrap around the spring, the ones that rest on the spring.
