Doesn't that makes the seat messy?

I think you mean accelerate...

Does the noise change if you step lightly on the pedal, just enoogh to take up the "slack"? Does it change when you fully engage the clutch?

Some 3650's (including mine) have a noisy mainshaft that can be easily heard at idle with the clutch out, it goes away when you step on the clutch.
as to answer this lightly pressing on the pedal does not change the noise. The noise does not stop until the clutch is fully disengaged and starts as soon as it begins to engage.

I think what you are hearing is the normal mainshaft noise that many heavier duty transmissions make in neutral. When the clutch is out, in neutral, the tranny mainshaft is turning over without any load and between the bearing and normal noise from the slight contact of the shift forks/etc. Because we run ATF in our transmissions, rather than heavy gear oil which dampens such sounds) it can be quite noticable.

It was one of the first things I noticed on my '03 GT when I got it at 30k, it sounds exactly the same at 80k...

Yea it is a much louder trans. then my old stang with the t-5, but at any rate Im tired of the sloppiness that im getting from the stock system. So im going to put in a new clutch quadrant, firewall adjuster, and a steeda tri-ax shifter.
