Umm.. Electric Supercharger... This thing has no air plumbing at all and isn't in line with the airbox...

Also, I know you can buy loom anywhere, but the loom is 100% consistant with the rest of the loom, rib spacing etc.. and is flush everywhere, doesn't look shotty, and isn't housing a simple + - connection that you'd expect from some random 12v device.

I think it is your EVAP canister? Maybe the stock one went bad and previous owner was to lazy to pull the old one and put it right there
The more I look at it my answer is pretty stupid. Look for a Ford part # on it and type it into google.

It looks like an aftermarket, or transplanted, cruise control system.

Or maybe a "dealer installed" CC...

Hmm.. I've never seen an aftermarket cruise control system, but you may be right!! The vacuum hose I thought I saw is actually the throttle cable , it runs into that box , then out of that box to the throttle body.. , Is that the only thing it could be?

I only saw "out of the box", past the radiator, and then to the TB bellcrank in the photos?

Another "hose" going in to the box from someplace on the intake manifold could be a vacuum line. Many aftermarket, and older OEM, cruise control servos are vacuum operated.

The "Red Book" says:

60C Convenience Group includes:
Front Floor Mats, Rear Window
Defroster, Speed Control, Power
Driver’s Seat
Base 495.00
GT 295.00

CC was an option in 1998...

I was wondering how long it would take to say a CC motor. From a Canadian Ford(merc), I think...
