RE: spec stage 1 clutch
i have recently not to long ago had a spec stage 2 put in my car and does the throwout bearing always make a noise cause mine does and its way over 500 miles on the car just wondering if anyone knew
not a sound from mine, but that may be one of the differences between a stage I and a stage II

I'm in Cincity(Cincinnati). It would be cool to meet up somewhere and let the rubber fly. Aint no doubt about it that you would spank me with the PI upgrade, but right now I think we would be neck and neck. I am saving my pennies for a rainy day and a SHM built 5.1 stroker by Christmas. Now that is a good present to myself!!!

All of the clutches I've seen people get they get a 500 miles brake in period with tem. Tha could be your problem. Drive it slow fo the first 500 miles. I've seen people messing them up in les than 200 for not being patient. Get some gears too and you'll love your clutche once you break it in.

RE: spec stage 1 clutch
Spec clutches usually take a 450 to 500 mile break in. This makes the clutch disc smooth and levels out any rough spots. As for the clutch near the floor... Get an adjustable clutch cable kit. It will be the best $100 you ever spent for a cable, firewall adjuster, and quadrant. Easy adjustment and you can put the pedal right where you want it.
It should get less grabby as you put on miles. As for the throw out bearing problem mentioned above they are just a standard oem type bearing and should last a long time as long it was heavily greased during the install.

RE: spec stage 1 clutch
I thank everyone for the input, and I am embarassed to say that I may have jimped the gun on accusing the clutch of being.........well...less than what I expected. As it is breaking in it is getting better, though it still chatters like a 6 year old on Cocaine in reverse, but the forwrd gears are much more forgiving than what they were earlier this week. As I said before this car see's about 65 miles a day in to and from work driving, so it is breaking in much quicker than I anticipated. It is actually starting to feel like a clutch agian instead of an on/off button. I know I was not supposed to do it, but I had to, I let'er rip at about 3200 from a stop light just to show that lil piece of crap Saturn who was "purging his NOS" (his words, not mine) and I am happy to report nothing but traction and REALLY good holding power on the clutch. I am mightily impressed and take back all the bad things I said before. But I do want to know if I am supposed to be smelling the stench of a burning clutch when I am done driving. Not tonight on the way home, but I mean period. It smells like it did when the old one went out. Is this normal? Am I being too hard on it in normal traffic(80% highway/20%city) I have been told this is how hipo clutches do their thing, but I am too stoopid to know. Thanks for your time.
