I just got a 01 manual gt. i was wondering wat is the best gear ratio, and what is the best brand of gears to look at. this is going to be driven on weekends and nice days, so i dont want pure race but i do want something to pep it up a little

I'll save everyone the trouble and tell you 4.10's. You will get a few opinions suggesting 3.73's, but 99% of the people will tell you 4.10's for a N/A and 3.73 if you are going to install a s/c. Most people will also tell you to go with FRPP.

I am getting a s/c, have 3.90's and they are made by Motive. Sometimes I don't listen too well.

don't listen to people telling you to get 3.73 to save gas mileage if you do highway driving (we're talking MAYBE 1mpg). don't listen to them saying 3.73 if you get a blower, a lot of people running blowers have 4.10s and love it. well, people with a centrifigal blower anyway. don't listen to people saying 4.10 for auto, 3.73 for 5 speed. i got the 3.73 listening to that garbage and regret every day that i didn't get 4.10.

either way you will feel a difference. especially if you are not planning on modifying the car extensively.

Seriously though, I would recommend the 4.10s with an auto.

BTW - I have 4.10s in an '03 GT manual and it's fine.
