Default Steeda UDP install...

I just bought a used set of Steeda UDPs off of ebay. It doesnt come with the longer starter bolt for the crank pulley. What do I have to do to install it w/o it? Can I get one at a hardware store or could I just hammer it on with a dead blow hammer?

You can try holding a cut peice of 2x4 accross the crank face and hitting it with a hammer until it moves far enough on the crank for the bolt to engage. Make sure you put some lube on the pulley where it installs on the crank. It'll help the pulley slide over the crank and keep the seal in the front cover from getting pinched.

I would just use a hammer and tap it in a little bit. It doesn't need to go in far before the stock one catches, I have had mine off like 6 times and I never used a starter bolt.

Go rent a harmonic balancer installer kit from autozone. You pay for it then get your money when you return it.

Sounds like the best suggestion.

I personally use the silver (moly) antiseize on the crank snout, and slide the pulley on far enough that the stock crank bolt catches. The trick, as I found working with machine tools, is not to force it to one side or the other.
