Mach Stereo System Questions
I'll have to admit, I'm not much of a "car guy." I just bought a 2004 Mustang GT after I totalled my Jeep in an accident, so far so good. I love the sports car feel of the Mustang. Anyway, I have the Mach stereo and IMO it is absolutely terrible. Are they all bad or is mine blown? Is there any way to replace the speakers and still use the factory amps or would I have to replace the whole system? Any help, thoughts or ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

umm... the factory mach 460 isn't "terrible" but its not the best thats forsure...
you can upgrade the headunit and it'll sound better...
you can upgrade the speakers and it'll sound better...
you can upgrade whatever you want and use whatever factory part you want still. just takes time and wiring of course.

I happen to thing the 460 sounds pretty good, except for the silly DSP modes all of which make it sound as the speakers are at the botton of oil drums and caves of varying sizes.
One essential thing is to enable the speed sensitive level control, which if off by default. Press and hold the volume control for 5 seconds, the display will show a single digit 0-7. Use the up/down arrows (SEL) to set a higher number, I drive with the windows sown whenever and use 7 which is the maximum effect.
Without the speed sensitive level system on you will wonder what happened to all that 460 W of claimed power. It will reset if you disconnect the battery, you will notice because the next time you use the system you first thought will be along the lines of WTF?
