$500? Who did your install, Jesus maybe?
Not Jesus but close, Jeremy at HPP.

New FRPP gears about $200
Intall Kit about $85 (my guess - I didn't get one)
Installation about $200

Adds up to $485, pretty close to $500 I would say. Worth every cent if it's done right the first time.

K, I was assuming 500 for labor.

I paid 120 for labor, 80 for bearings, 30 for gear oil.

I have a 2001 GT auto. I should be getting new gears soon but I am stuck with the same dillemma everyone else seems to have. 3.73 or 4.10. Mostly do city driving but in the summer I drive to the lake which is a little less than an hour drive and its mostly highway besides about 20 minutes. I have heard that 4.10's would still be great but I am worried about gas mileage and hurting my engine. What rpm would I be at with 4.10's going about 75mph? Is there even a big difference in the gas mileage from stock to 4.10's? Will 4.10's hurt my engine over time from such high rpm's? I need all the help I can get so I dont tear something up. Thanks.

Also... are new gears worth it? I mean can you tell a big difference with 4.10's?

i got 4.10s in my 99GT 5-sp, with just a H and a catback,,

now i might seem backwards here, but at the very first i had a bit of trouble telling how much harder it was pulling in the band of power, aka power band right...oh well

but as time went on, and i had more and more people ride with me, they helped me KNOW that it pulls much harder than it did first, and now, each time i get on it, i love it more and more, (ive had them for about 700 miles now)

however, if you ABSOLUTEY CANNOT afford a bit more gas,,,, just dont drive as much

as for install, i spent 500 easy, maybe more

180 gears
200 install
85 bearing
20 fluid
90 recal
so add that up, its almost 6 right?
well, good luck

I have 3:73s and i love em. It really didnt hurt my gas mileage. But it picked up a good bit. But ive only heard good things bout 4:10s. I would go with the 4:10 setup
