Default Aluminum Driveshaft

Does anybody have one, and if you do what are the performance gains if any? I am thinking about one since I need u-joints like right now. Is it worth the money for an aluminum one?

If you need joints it can be worth it.

It basically lightens up part of the drivline and are balanced alittle better then the factory steel ones. Typially they are installed with gears because of the harmonics caused by the higher rotation speeds.

I didn't install one and I don't need to. I am not having any of the driveline issues like others.

I'd like to see one dyno'd. You'd think there would be some RWHP diff. Sounds like folks don't JUST get them for the HP though. Also to save weight , better balance, less rotational mass??? I am guessing that you would get a little out of it but may not be much HP for the $$$. Just guessing.

They are fairly expensive and the HP gains are minimal and only due to the reduction of rotational mass.

They are lighter.

I'm not getting one for a loooong time.

There is NO hp gains from the driveshaft.

It lightens the driveline and helps the REVing ablities of the car. It is also lighter and with a gear set the RPM of the driveshaft increases which makes a more pronounced vibration from a poorly balanced factory dirveshaft. An aluminum driveshaft has less weight and is balanced much better then the factory shaft. The reduced weight helps with reving speed and reduces the vibration felt in the car as speed increases.
