Default Clutch recommendation....please

Hello:

I'm sure this has been posted a million times, but....

I have a DAILY DRIVER 2001 GT that I will install a Vortech Supercharger after I break in a new clutch.

My current clutch is bad, my guess is that the previous owner put a Ford Racing clutch in the car (and fried the flywheel, also). I say this because of massive chatter from the pedal? I also do not like the clutch feel, so I'd like to steer away from the current.

So that being said, I'm looking at a new flywheel and clutch. Since I drive this everyday, I don't want the clutch to be a monster, but because of the supercharger, I think it needs little more than stock?

Also, I live in Los Angeles, I sit in traffic a lot!!!!!! I push the clutch in and out hundreds of times a day and only move half a car length (yes, it sucks!!!!)

If you are planning on getting a S/C I would most def upgrade my clutch. With the few mods that I have I think that it was to much for the stock clutch. Went to the track Saturday got on her real hard a couple of times and bam clutch goes out. Got a friend that has a 99 GT Saleen Replica that has a Procharger. He runs a spec stage III clutch and he hasn't had any problems...

Spec Stage II or Centerforce DF will be a good upgrade. As for pedal effort, you shouldn't have a problem with that LA traffic.

I am running a spec stage 2 with alum flywheel and couldnt be happier. I also went the extra mile and I recommend getting a quadrant and firewall adjuster. The stock quadrant is plastic and junk and the firewall adjuster makes things easy. The alum flywheel revs a little quicker too which is a plus.

Stage II should be just fine. Stage III would be a little harsh for a daily driver.

Sounds like Spec Stage 2. Thanks for the help.

I bought a quandrant, cable, and adjuster about 3 months ago hoping that it would buy me time on my crappy shifting clutch (that's when the guy installed it and said everything was pretty much fried). I don't need to replace any of those parts do i? I only drive about 500 miles a month.
