You dont need to drop the tank to check it.

If you have power and ground going to the pump, and no fuel pressure, then you have a bad pump. Unplug the pump connector right next to the gas tank, and check the red wire with black stripe (or possibly the brown/pink wire) for power with a test light when you turn the key on (it should only have power for about 2-5 seconds so you'll need another person) Next check for ground at the same connector, black wire. Hook up to the positive side of the battery with a test light and probe the black wire. If it lights up, then you have ground.

Id try ^^^ first but if you have to drop the tank do yourself a favor and siphon the gas out. Put it back in when you're done with everything.

DMM should be the first thing any of us ever buy when we buy cars. It's the most important tool in my garage.
