Default power steering fluid puddle

ok i have a 97 gt and found my power steering level low and a puddle where it is parked where should i look to find out where it is leaking it is night here 10 pm and will be trouble shooting it after i get back from my doctors visit hopefully it doesn't go out completely. if so what can happen other than having a hard time turning the car will i loose any control that could cause me to get into an accident? back to trouble shooting check lines and clamps but are there any other parts i should look at ? thanks inadvance

I'm sure the PS is inner connected to the ABS system so you may feel issues with the breaks as well.

The PS is directly related to you brakes, but not ABS in general. Our cars use a hydroboost setup, so instead of a vac booster we have a hydraulic booster. If you run low on fluid your brakes will get spongy and the pedal will probably pulsate and vibrate. Not really safe to keep driving. Obviously check the hoses coming from the bottle, then check the hard lines at the pump, then at the PS rack. It could be possible that you blew a seal in the rack.

I had a PS fluid leak at the hydroboost. theres a little black box on the tire side of the hydroboost. between that box and the hydroboost is an o-ring that went bad and it was leaking..
