Default Leaky diff pinion seal... NEW GEARS???

so i discovered the other day my rear end leaking quite a bit, took a look and low and behold the pinion seal is toast. was only going to replace seal, but somewhere along the way i got the itch to upgrade to 4:10's. but had a couple questions before i went any further.

- Gas Mileage??? from what i can tell from reading other posts there is not much of a loss. anybody have trouble with that??

- driveability effected?

- is there a difference in the brand of gears that i choose? (FRPP, Motive, Richmond, etc...)

- is this something i could do myself? or best left to a pro?

- if taken to a "pro", what is an appropriate price for the whole deal? (gears, bearings, labor, etc...)

thanks in advance for your answers

fuel maby like 1-2 mpg drop and driveability is fine. as for doing it yourself it isnt that its a hard job its just you have to be very persice with it and if you dont really know what your doing you most likely will mend up with gear whine and posibly slap so unless you know how to messure backlash and pinion preload and have the tools to do it then i would say its best left to the pros

i noticed some loss in my mpg but nothing major. also with 4;10s 1st gear is useless around town, i always start in second just so i dont have to shift right away. id also take it to a shop (a respectable one) it may cost with parts and labor somewhere from 400-1000 depending on where it is done. i got my gear and install for less than 500

Just buy them dude you will love the car. Gas mileage nothing major really 1-2 mpg if even that but it feels like a whole new car. Id leave it to a shop for an install but if you got some mechanical skills you can do it yourself.
