hydraulic pressure assists the brakes.

WTF?? that makes no sense... power steering fluid and brake fluid are 2 completly different things...

check the fluid... if it is low, fill it, if it still squeels when you turn the wheel your pump is going out... I drove for over a year with a pump that was going bad.

OK you people that keep posting wrong info need to stop. As posted already the brakes do get help from the Hydro boost that is connected to your Power steering pump. There is NO vacuum assist on a GT or Cobra. V6 Yes

I never wrote that what i said was the rule. i was just trying to figure it out how it works and state how i thought it did. So the hydraulic fluid from the pwr steering pump goes to the brake system is that what the hose is on the brake system on the fire wall?

I never said that they were the same, any idiot knows that the fluids are different...what I said was that if you have no power steering fluid then you will also lose your power brakes...it is a fact...read BraMas post if you want to know how they are related...if you still don't believe me then drain your power steering fluid and see for yourself (just make sure you give yourself plenty of stopping room)...and BTW, I suggest you read my message before you quote it and call me out...

You use power steering fluid...the reservoir is on the left side (driver's side) front of the engine between the timing cover and the coolant reservoir...first check to see if you are low and if you are then fill it up and keep an eye on it...

Okay, thanks. Is there any particular kind of PSF you recommend that I use? Is there any particular specification?

Also, I want to run the LUCAS power steering pump STOP leak stuff, I have heard great things.

yea, the cheapest one you can find...seriously, I use store brand for my power steering fluid and brake fluid...as far as the stop leak why not just get a new pump and be done with your problem...?? even if the stop leak does work you are still gonna have to fix it eventually so just do it now...
