Default 2nd and 3rd gear problems only in years before 03?

whats the deal with the T3650. IM in the process of fixing mine. I've found an 04 rebuilt t3650 that is in my price range. Plus i dont want to buy it and then 20,000 miles later ... Oh look my syncros are out again. Thats just B.S

But i never really hear people say , my trans is bad when they have an 03-04 GT. Are these 3rd gear grinds and 2nd gear problems only with the years before 03-04?. did ford put some parts in to fix the problems the t3650 is notorious for. It just seems like everyone i talk to has got a problem with this damn trans.

thanks

Could your user name be an indication of what's wrong with your transmission?

i think the trannies in the 01.5 and 02 gt's suck and the ones they put in the 03/04 were better built. the clutches in the stock 03/04 gt's feel different than the one in my 02. I think that they were having problems with the early t3650 trannies so they built them better so they didnt have to do anymore warranty/tsb work on them.

yeah there is a TSB out for this. It just annoys me FORD knows of the issue and refuses to fix it. I know they will go in even more debt if they fixed this issue but hey, sell a product that works, its not my problem.

Ford told me the Parts to fix my problem cost 1300.00 and labor is 700.00. WELL **** ford, im just going to change my trans fluid and see if that works for 20.00. If that doesn't work and then looks like im going to go to D&D Performance and pic up a new Trans which comes with the Upgrades Syncro Kit for 1200.00. Ohhh and ford wants 22.00 per quart of trans fluid. haha, i laughed in their face and left.

sorry i had to vent. But yeah i guess that TSB has been out since 06

screw ford...but it wasnt really their problem. tremec built the trannies and they probably had a contract to finish the new edge mustangs. so i mean it looks like its ford's fault but it's tremec's fault for building a pos and selling it to ford. i would just buy a tko and be done with it.

Yeah and what a POS isn't it? I mean several people on here drive the crap out of their cars with the stock transmission and there's obviously twenty threads a day about how their tranny crapped out...

I usually beat my car on a regular basis (when the roads are dry), and my T45 has held up so far. I think it was ZW99GT with also a T45 that has held up while running lots of power through it. I believe 01GT4.6 (?) is in the same ballpark with his TR3650.

What can you guys tell me that the main difference was in the transmissions between the late 01s through the 04s?

But yeah, D&D has some great stuff though. That seems like a nice deal that they got going. OP, how many miles are on your car?
