So........Einstein here decided to try to improve the headlights with some wet sanding. Result? Now they look 10X worse!!! Started with 1000 grit...............kept it real wet and now there is a haze on there I cant put a dent in with any scratch remover stuff. Will using 2000 grit help or am I fcukked??

What about picking up some of that Nightshades paint..........and going real light with a smoke coating??

There's no way that can mess up your headlight permanently. Resand it with 1500 real good, then go to the parts house and buy either a headlight restoring compound, or Meguire's PlastX. Both should be under $10 and with an electric buffer your headlights should look way more clear then they were. You have to have a good buffing after you sand or of course its going to be more dull. I've done many headlight restorations.

yes 2000 grit will help and you will need to buff them out with a light polishing compound also for this you will need a buffer or a buffing pad attached to a drill

don't sweat it bro...I can't even begin to tell u the DIY projects I did when I first started modding that got fubard... try the above suggestions and when all else fails remember they make all sorts of headlights for our cars..

You can use toothpaste as your sandingcompound instead of sandpaper. It works really good on plastic. After that you buff with some liquid wax and it looks like new.

sounds like you missed the buffing step.

and use a polish, not a wax to take out the haze. A wax is to protect not to correct defects.

+1. You really need a buffer too, not just elbow grease. My cousin and I did it on his 01 VW Jetta and it turned out great!

like the other 7 people said you forgot the step where you have to buff the headlights to get the shine back just thought id that!!lol
