Default Best tire for my car?

Hey all,

Whelp, the time has come for new tires. So I was hoping folks could recommend some!

I have a 2000 GT with 420 rwhp. I NEVER go to the track, and never will; it is only for farting around town. It only gets maybe 1500 miles a year, and only in nice weather (summer.) So... what do folks recommend? Some folks have said Nitto 555s, but is that too much drag tire for me, since I never hit the track? I have Sumis right now, and they just don't hook much.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think Nitto 555R are over kill for the street and they'll hook 10x better then your sumis too. Most peoples complaint for them is tread life but with the amount of miles you're going to be putting on them, who cares.

555Rs will spin to no end dude.

What size rims are you running?

I'd recommend a MT ET Street, and they make a 275/40/17. It will hook a lot better than a Nitto of the same size. They dont last that long, but its perfect for your driving tho..

ET street will hook. Indeed. But I always recall the time my buddy and I were in his bolt on/cammed/geared LS1 camaro. He ran et streets and they hooked quite nicely on that car. We drove to a car show on a saturday morning with beautiful weather, planned on jettin mid afternoon but ended up hooking up with some fine young ladies, werent paying attention to the weather, and sure enough it started raining. It may have only been 20 miles to his place, but about 3 miles in and a dozen sideways encounters, we decided it best to park. The girls had one of their friends pick them up. It rained all friggin night. and a camaro is not comfortable to sleep in. yeah.

But ET streets hook awesome! No doubt! just when its dry...

I've got 11 inch on the back, 8.5 on the front...

I hear such mixed things about the nittos!

Honestly a lot of opinions on tires depend a lot on driver styles. Some guys can make friggin firestone firehawks hook like mad, other can spin on et streets all day. Nittos can hook. You just gotta learn em.

the nittos will hook fine you will just really have to heat them up good, plus they are going to last you longer than the ET streets
