Default 383 Stroker Motor in a 1996 Mustang GT

I know this a touchy subject for all you ford enthusiast but I wanna pull the 4.6 out and drop in a 383 stroker with either a th400 or a built 350 tranny. I paid 1500 for the car, I ran it and it warped a head after over heating. I'm not good with ford engines neither is my family so I wanna pull it out! Have plenty of chevy sbc motors and trannys...just seems like the cheapest and smartest way to go..??

I would like to hear your opinions on the matter...what would you do?

Nevva!!!!
why not slap a 351 in it.. or a nice little 347...or a 427..you got plenty of choices and they're choices that many people have probably already done so when you screw up there will be people to help you.

Im sure it can be done... Theres a few companies out there that makes K-members and Headers for SBC swapped Fox's ( I think LS1s)

So it is possible... Check with UPR for the suspension and Kooks or Hooker for the headers. The rest (wiring) is pretty much up to you

I know it can be done...I've already found the site for the K-members

http://www.ajeracing.com/mustang.php

I'm just not sure how the car/body will hold up under the torque...I'm hoping somebody would know how strong it actually is...i'm guessing I will have to invest in subframe and possible later a 9 inch rear end...if it will fit

The 8.8 is a pretty stout rear, unlike the 10 bolt garbage in F-bodies. I wouldnt worry about a 9". As far as structural rigidity I'd get some full length subframe connectors and weld the torque boxes. combine that with some good upper+lower control arms and you got a solid car man

Any powertrain swap can be done, it's just a question of skill, time, and money...

This hasn't been making the rounds for a while...

I'm just not familiar with the 351w or fords at all to that matter...i am aware that it can be stroked to a 393 and other cubic inches
