hello, i just bought a 1999 GT. and only got one key with no owners manual. are the keys for the 99 coded or are they a regular key? thanks for any info.

They should be coded for a passive alarm. You will have to go to your dealer if you want a second one. There is no manual for them as far as I know. I got only one for my first mustang. There pretty expensive to add or replace. Passive alarm is, no key, no start.
There's a chip inside them.

I just bought a 96 with only one key and got one coppied at a hardware store and it didnt have a chip in it so the car died as soon as it was started. But they had chip keys and I found out in the owners manual how to program it so they coppied a chip key for me at the same store for $20 and I read the instrutions a few times and programed it.

THANKS, i am trying to win the owners manual on ebay now. its a 99 GT. when i get a blank key and have it cut. can you please post the way i could program the new key? or anyone who knows how for a 99. i am going to take it to a dealer tomorrow and try to get one. if not ill do the route you took. thanks again. people were telling me i need 2 keys to make a copy. but i figure ill ask the pros and come to this forum.
