Default Power Steering!!!

Okay, so my power steering fluid is slightly above "min" and I was just wondering WHY I keep losing my power steering in the rain!!! (or moist weather) It ONLY happens when I first start the car and once I gok to back out and I turn the wheel, the car squeals like mice from under the hood, and my power steering is back.

WHATS GOING ON???

lol, are you serious?

Why does it do this crap in damp weather only? I don't understand. It sounds like birds chirping, then it kicks in.

The serpentine belt slipping is the most likely reason--the grooved side hardens and glazes with age. The is often not readily apparent and a belt that "looks" fine will slip in even lightly damp conditions.

Get a Goodyear Gatorback or Dayco Poly-Cog. They are the hands-down best, with Bando being a close third.

When I was pushing 12 psi boost on my Miatas with a 4-rib belt I could burn up Gates and Kelley-Springfield belts in 3000 miles. The Gatorback and Poly-Cogs were good for 15k to 20k.
