Im looking into getting a tuner for my 02 GT and i want the new SCT handheld or the livewire cant decide but either way it says that the user has adjustablitiy ovr spark and fuel. Those are the basics really needed to tune the car if im not mistaken? but does that mean with some time on the dyno of my own (yae i have my own personel dyno) i could tune the car without having to get a bunch of othr software? i have basic tuning knwledge i am a graduate of Universal Technical Institute. plz ne info on like tuneing and wat all is done at the dyno wen u pay $400 dollars to get a tune done and like y i cant jst use the tunner to do it myself? plz help me out here and also which one do you guys perfer the live wire or the handheld?

My sct Xcal2 came with software so I have the option to data log if I wanted to. I'm sure all sct tuners come with software.

i just ordered the x3. my understanding is that you will have some adjustability, but you cant sit there and make yourself a tune with it... it sounds like you best bet is the sct with a mail order tune, and then fine tune it. the sct pro something or nother package, lets you tune all yourself... or the sniper **** everyone seems to like

I noticed in another thread your looking to do a blower kit over the winter. I could be wrong, but I'm almost positive that the handheld unit alone is not going to give you enough adjustibility to tune for that type of setup. You have basic low, mid, and high RPM adjustment for fuel and spark, as well as global. I'm pretty sure you do not have the means without the high end software to do things like calibrate for larger injectors or different MAFs.

If you have sniper you can. That is the same price as all the others.

As Dimebag said above you would need the SCT Pro Racer software to tune at a high end level, also you would need a tuner/chip to put the tune on your car.

You should get SCT certified and open a shop to tune cars, you already have the dyno!

Sniper trumps all other tuners if you are going to tune your own car.
